STUDY TASK 1 - What is design for print? Packaging & Promotion

Packaging & Promotion

Farm Honey packaing by Klein Constantia. I knew exactly what this packacing and this product was without even reading the text or what it was about. The visuals are really strong and the stock looks good and durable and it also references previous knowledge and classic imagery of honey with the string tied lid and the shape of the jar holding the honey. It looks instantly recognisable, contemporary and visually striking at the same time.

Don't mean to sound like an Apple fanboy but I think Apple's packaging is brilliant and often overlooked. The boxes are about as small as they can get and all the parts are very thoughfully placed and pieced together in the box in the most efficent and space-saving way possible. Impressing us and actually saving them money in a variety of ways such as materials and shipping. Apples products and packaging is mass produced they sell millions of products but even though they are mass produced they don't feel it. You feel like you're holding a quality product hand-made for you even when you open the iPhone box which has a perfectly snug lid.

Jooze packaging by Yunyeen Yong. Again I think these perfectly capture what the product is about through the shape and context of the products and the visuals and I think they complement each other very well. They'll get attention when you drink them, leading to further sales and interest and also stand out on the shelves next to it's rivals. Jooze is a proposed company which produces fruit juices for kindergarten and primary school students and considering the target audience I think these are very effective.

Fruit juice packaging by Naoto Fukusawa. These are similar to the Jooze packaging but slightly different in that they use the actual shape and format of the traditional packaging but in a really creative way which doesn't even need words, you instantly know what it is and it has an attachment to it. I'd keep these, even after I drink them.

'Buggin Out' drink. I really like these as the overlayed text, colours perfectly encapsulate the idea of bugging out! The choice of packaging and the shape of the packaging instantly reminds you of alcohol and a luxury classic product which is what the product is.
