SW - 19 is a magazine concept we have been working on which extends from the day journal/programme towards a more collectible and luxurious product you would collect and keep year on year.
Calling it SW - 19 is a reference to the postcode and location of Wimbledon, and 'nickname' sometimes used as a nickname to refer to the tournament. It also gives the magazine more of a real-world context, outside of the Wimbledon environment and also suitable on the stands in a bookstore such as Village, or Colours May Vary in Leeds. - Researching into publication covers with a focus on communication and typography at Village was very helpful in informing SW - 19.
Again, in keeping with cost-effective solutions, the majority of the print is again black and white but there is a use of the neon green stock, and also of blind embossing on the cover - creating a tactile added layer of communication.
Cover + Spreads:
As you can see above, the green stock comes into play on selected spreads, and the focus is on the players as individuals, with their own profiles. The art-director and photographer would reference fashion shoots and the layouts would be a mixture between a fashion lookbook and a sports magazine, creating glamour and an attraction towards a younger demographic.
All the information communicated is relevant, including player name and seeding number

Full photographs of SW - 19 along with all final products is arranged to be taken on Thursday and will be blogged for a deeper understanding of the identity. Very excited to photograph
