Found this earlier by Catalogue, a design studio down in central Leeds. They've done similar prints based on proverbs and I think they're pretty cool. I like the cryptic quality to them.

RECYCLABLE DESIGN
Posted on 06:53 by cena
This is something I wish I had more time to explore in my Proverb mail shot brief, but something I did consider as it's environmentally friendly and perfectly suits the campaign.

IDENTITY DESIGN
Posted on 06:51 by cena
I really like the whole idea of creating a brand identity, that's kind of what I've been doing and can keep ongoing with the Don't Sin Just Bin campaign stuff. I find it really interesting and cool to look at ways in which the companies aesthetics and character can be applied to anything, from notebooks to stickers to pencil sharpeners or whatever. The photos look really cool too where everything's lined up neatly organised.
I've only made stickers and little postcard type things yet, but I could really go to town with this.

INSPIRATION FOR LOGO
Posted on 14:01 by cena
A few things inspired the logo I designed for the Don't Sin Just Bin campaign I've developed. Mainly it was a typographic/illustration approach to a logo, rather than just mainly text alone. I wanted to create a badge type logo that could be hopefully applied to a variety of stuff, a letterhead, business card, side of a truck?! a uniform, building sign etc. I also quite like the vintage look and wanted to have a go at this aeshetic. Here's bits and pieces that inspired the look and feel of the logo, whether it be colour or font choice.

LEEDS COMMUNITY LITTER PICKER RETIRES!
Posted on 03:53 by cena
A local legend, going by the name of Tommy Fitzgerald recently retired in October, after 17 years of service. Maybe I could pay a tribute to him.

MORE HUMOROUS APPROACH
Posted on 03:36 by cena
KEEP BRITIAN TIDY also has a range of a more lighthearted approach of posters available to order aswell. This could be an avenue to explore, as I want it to get someones attention and be different to the rest of the junk you get through the letterbox.
MATT CHASE
Posted on 03:10 by cena
Matt Chase is an American graphic designer and illustrator, I generally quite like his style and solutions he makes. I really like his US Postal Service. He makes something so common and uninteresting, and something we overlook - into something really interesting and inviting to look at.
I'd love to take this approach to something to do with a cleaner, maybe rebrand myself as a cleaner and have a logo and a badge and all the other identity stuff.

Keep Britain Tidy has a campaign running called "Love Where You Live"
"The Love Where You Live campaign aims to:
LITTERACTION
:Sanitary Soundsystem
Sanitary Soundsystem are a local group in Leeds who have a unique approach to cleaning Leeds up. They carry around a soundsystem and have music on nice and loud while people join in and clean up.
The amount of info I can get on it is quite bare at the moment but I think this is a decent idea and is relevant to me and to Leeds and I can imagine who I'd send it to

Keep Britain Tidy has a campaign running called "Love Where You Live"
"The Love Where You Live campaign aims to:
- Inspire and enable everyone to take action to reduce littering and improve the quality of local places
- Engage everyone to change their behaviour and drive local action by fostering pride and understanding
- Raise the profile of the importance of caring for local places to improve individuals quality of life
- Encourage, support and bring together leaders from government, business, media and civil society
We want this campaign to encourage 3,000,000 people and 3,000 organisations to take action to reduce litter over the next three years. We know it takes time to change the way people think and act so we recognise that this will be a long journey and we want to encourage as many people as possible to join us along the way."
"Love Where You Live principles
The Love Where You Live campaign is based on six guiding principles that we are asking those who want to be involved, whether they are an organisation or an individual to adopt:
• Encourage personal responsibility and positive action
• Work in partnership with neighbours to reduce litter
• Take responsibility for keeping your own immediate area clean
• Raise awareness and education about the prevention of littering
• Make it easy for people not to drop litter
• Become an active ambassador for clean, green places throughout England and the UK"

Here are some examples of stuff you can order:
They also allow anyone to take part in the campaign, we're also able to order posters and other media. This could be something I could adopt, I could basically adopt the campaign and send out stickers and other little bits of media to the relevant people and say here's some stuff to get you started, such as a poster and some stickers. Redirect them to the website and encourage them to get in on it.
I could send it to unis, councils, environmental organistations, busy public buildings such as train stations, shopping centres etc.
I quite like this idea and think it has some substance and purpose.

RESEARCH INTO OCCUPATION: "CLEANER"
Posted on 14:12 by cena
Here's some fairly interesting things I've managed to find on the idea of cleanliness, the environment etc. It's something to give me a bit more purpose and focus with what I want to say.
Leeds 'sludge team' targets nuclear waste
Recycling rates in England top 40% for the first time
World Environment Day
Earth Day
Q&A: Recycling
No Plastic Bag Day
Greenpeace challenge events
Qingming Festival (grave sweeping day, amongst other things)

Fonts that work for a cleaner?
Posted on 04:30 by cena
They range from a more industrial look, to a squeaky clean kind of aesthetic to a more personal handwritten style as cleaners usually tend to be, in my experience, quite friendly and less formal. It kind of makes sense in a way to have a handwriting style, for a more personal approach that looks less formal.
